Digital Lectures at ANU

Role
: Tech Team Leader
Project: Digital Lecture Delivery (DLD), Australian National University, Canberra, Australia
Scope:  Applications and systems integration for campus-wide lecture recording and delivery.

In 2008-09  I was involved in building the lecture capture and delivery system at the Australian National University. "DLD" is a system to record the audio and slides from enabled lecture theatres across the campus in Canberra.

DLD is an integration of Apple's Podcast Producer with a management overlay written in Java, and an administration system in Ruby on Rails.

Lecturers log in to the lectern PC then run a cross-platform java application to start, pause and stop the recording. After processing, the recording is available in the campus learning management system, Moodle.

The DLD administration application allows lecturers to control the release of their recordings, and enables administrators and audiovisual technicians to maintain operation of the system.
